The brief
A private day counter for people in the US on a visa where running out of days can end their status. Stayward shows one number, the days left, for F-1 OPT and STEM OPT unemployment and for the grace period after a job ends. It also reminds people before a passport, work permit or visa document expires. There is no account and no server, and the app asks for no network permission.
What we built
- Built natively twice: Kotlin and Jetpack Compose on Android, Swift and SwiftUI on iPhone, with an Apple Watch app and complications
- One rules engine written to the same spec on both platforms, with day classification checked by parity and fuzz tests
- Calm local reminders at 30, 15 and 5 days, plus document expiry alerts scheduled on the device
- Private by design: data stays on the phone, documents are stored encrypted, and one tap deletes everything
